Fan blower switch

Hello experts,

1970 Cutlass S

Need to replace my faa blower switch on the climate control panel. Does anyone have any ideas/tricks about replacing this from underneath the dash? Removing the whole dash just to replace this switch is out of my league.

Regards,
Bill

You can try removing the instrument cluster and going in from the top thru the clock opening. Going from bottom will require removal of the underdash airconditioning lap cooler manifold and a whole lot of contortions unless you remove the seat.

Should be a 1/4" or 9/32" hex head screw holding the switch to the control head. A magnetic socket helps here.

1st rule: DISCONNECT THE BATTERY.

second towhat Rocketraider is saying. No need to remove the dash. I definitely needed to remove my seat, getting tougher and tougher to get under the dash as I aged !! Seat is easy to remove...….

Oh my gosh - two hours to even get the top hex head screw out going through the clock gauge hole. No idea how I am going to get the bottom screw out let alone put the new fan switch in... Sigh... 60's technology with 6'-2", 240 lbs hands in a hornets nest of cables...

Lord - find me the patience and expert to help...

Be glad it IS 60s tech. Otherwise you'd be tearing out the whole dash to replace a computerized module!😛

Go back and edit your title to something that says you could use some help. That should bring out folks who have been there and done that. Job's not impossible. Just aggravating.
