Trying to figure out if these could be factory covers and what they might have been on originally. Appears to be a matching set but only 1 side is notched. Baffles are the same on both. Any ideas? Thanks!
Good to know...thanks! I almost sold them for $50.
If someone's got a legit 67 W-30 that needs them, be sure to help a bro out. There's no need to charge the moon and the stars for everything these days.
FYI, the 1967 cars were the only ones to use a single notched cover on the driver's side due to the new-for-67 11" brake booster but the old 1964-67 HVAC box.
I intend to track-pack-ize my project 67. I consider it a legitimate thing to do as you could buy that as a dealer package over the parts counter and install it yourself. So, I will. I mention it because the temptation is there to get chrome valve covers and oil fill cap like the W-30s (and those parts were also parts counter available) but that's not part of what the "over the counter OAI kit" had. I may be splitting hairs, but I consider that, since the OAI kit was a kit, it was intended to be used this way, whereas the chrome VC's were either stock from factory, or replacement parts for damage like any other service replacement part.
I'm also not putting the W-30 bump cam on a 3.08 car.
I run that 308 camshaft in my 66 L69,and since I do a lot of highway trips I swapped out the original 3.90 posi rearend with a complete 3.08 open differential rearend.I even left the close ration 4 sp trans in it.Never even considered changing camshafts. It pulls like a MFer from 55 to 110 mph too,and I suspect that W30 grind has something to do with it,plus it sounds good idiling around town,no driveability issue either
.
I say stick that camshaft in there if you have one and the inclination to do so.Maybe advance the camshaft a few degrees too.
