Engine harness question on 70 A Body

On a 455 A/C car, do the two leads going to the temp and oil pressure sensors (after the alternator) go through a plastic strap retainer (like the ones that attach the lamp harness to the core support) that attaches to the hole in the top of the lift strap? I thought I have seen this before on unmolested original cars, but the PIM is not clear on this. Mine is a non gauge car if it makes any difference.

I would answer "no." Hopefully you've found PIM section 12 pages 166 (non-442 A-bodies) and 168 (442s).

Page 166 clearly shows no attachment to the lift strap for A/C cars. View "A" (showing attachment to the lift strap) only applies to non-A/C cars. Makes sense, since the alternator and its clip are not there to hold the harness.

Page 168 shows the harness for A/C 442s routed over top of the alternator bracket and through a clip on the bracket. I really think that if they attached it to the lift strap this would be shown on page 168. I interpret page 168 as "For 442s, route it exactly like other A-bodies with A/C except as shown here."

Thanks Brian. I'm sure you are right - what I incorrectly remember is seeing that strap used on the non A/C applications. I've got that clip in place at the alternator bracket and it seems to hold the harness pretty steady until it gets to the senders.
