Differential capacity

I added a repro finned aluminum cover with "additional capacity" but I do not know how much. Is it like my outboard where I fill until it comes out the top (fill hole in this case) hole? I know the book says 2 pints for the stock cover.....
Thanks!

That is the way I have always done mine. I believe it is the correct procedure. The car must be level.

It actually should be 1/2" below. I usually stick my finger in the hole and if I can touch fluid at the first knuckle, it's full.

a question regarding posi..

I also added a cover with extra capacity I have a posi rear do I need to add more additive? I mean more fluid means it dilutes the additive right? Anyone know?

How much extra capacity? I don't think it's going to make a lot of difference as far as additive goes.

I agree with Oldcutlass. I just add enough oil until it touches my fingertip. When the oil gets hot, it expands. You do not want to overfill the rear end.

No, you do not have to add another bottle of posi additive from what i've been told from a guy who rebuilds drivetrain for a living. He told me you will do more harm than good.
