Deck Lid 70 convertible

Anybody know the best company to buy a remanufactured deck lid from? So many different companies and prices to choose from. Thanks

would you consider a nice used original? if so, you could post your location and maybe someone near you will have a nice one.

decl lid

I bought one from Tamaraz (Taiwan) for my 70 convertible and I am not happy with the fit. I highly recommend you try to find a good used original GM deck lid for your 70 convertible.

So a four door trunk will work on my convertible? That's good to know. Thanks

I had a real hassle getting a good lid for my 71. I bought 1 off ebay in NY and it seemed real good. I cleaned it as best as I could and couldnt see any rust but after I got it painted and on the car it started to bubble up(rust) at the rear lip. Where the inner and outed pieces join at the rear they rust. I finally took apart 2 lids-ruined the top of 1 and ruined the bottom of the other but got all the rust/corrosion out of there and now I have a good-though costly- trunk lid made out of the 2. If the repops fit good that would be what I would use,but I've heard they don't fit well. Good luck.

I have never seen a reproduction part that didn't require some messaging in order to make it work. I believe it's better to repair the old parts if possible rather than waste money on Chinese made parts. If someone out there knows of a good reputable repop please let me know. Thanks

where are you located? maybe someone close to you has a nice one. I just sold 2 that were perfect and in original paint. there are still some good ones out there for around the price of repops. I have one left but it is not in original paint, it looks good but could be hiding something under the paint. someday i will sand it down and see what it looks like.

Birmingham Alabama,

I would pay for a super clean original before buying a repop. I am looking at what appears to be minor damage just above the lip in the center and a little more on the left side. It will require a few hours labor to weld in new metal. Not really too bad.

I'm going to the local pick and pull tomorrow to look for a four door Cutlass.

This is why you see many, many more "convertible" decklids for sale on ebay than hardtop decklids.

I have a solid trunk lid for sale ... in Chicago. it's from a 71 4dr, original paint, although most of the blue color was baked off from the sun

I just did a search on Ebay and found quite a few original convertible trunk lids. This site is teaching me a lot about my car and where to get parts.

Thanks guys!
