Cold Air Intake

I would like to install a cold air intake on my 71 cutlass S 350 with AC. Has anyone done this before? I have been looking at Spectre performance products but they only have kits for an A body GM 350 Chevelle or Elcomino. I would like a photo if someone has done this to their cutlass 350 with AC , and a parts list would be great also.

Copy away, so far it works like a champ. The only "inconvenient" thing is having to vacuum out the bugs that get sucked up through scoops. I just have the shop vac ready when I pull the air cleaner lid/filter and start vacuuming so nothing gets in the carb. Dragonflies were the worst culprits this last summer.

Good luck.

Thanks everyone, I am leaning towards a plenum carb hat and 2 inline filters. For air induction I might replace my hi-beams with chrome intake funnels. This would require removing vapor canister and relocating/replacing over-flow bottle and moving battery to trunk.

I like all the spectre products. I would like to hard pipe everything but between the AC and the altenator its pretty tight. does anyone happen to know what degree plenum outlets fits best on a 71 cutlass? This is the angle of the outlets as they come out of the plenum or air box off the carb. Here is a photo from jegs.

Any futher thoughts or comments?

If you are going to spend the $400 on the spectre system, I would contact ramairbox.com and get something similar to the picture below. Of course, everyone has a look they are going for, so the ramairbox air cleaner setup may not appeal to you as much as the spectre plenum design.

Hey Defiant1, Your ram air looks great!, did you paint that air box? I would like to do the same when I get around to doing my ram air. If you did how did you Prep the air box? did you have to prime it?

Thanks. I did paint the air box with the same paint I used on the engine. I just cleaned the air box really well (used grease and wax remover) and layed on the paint from there. So far it has held up very well.
