can I use my 86'' 307 olds parts on my 71'' olds 350
I'm getting my 71 olds 350 (#395558 2) rebuild with mild cam and bored over 30... I have bought and eldebrock 600cfm w/ electric choke, and eldebrock olds performer manifold w/ and egr block off plate. I was wondering if ,my 307 distributor would work on my 350 engine or will I have to dig a little deeper into my pockets and get another distributor (MSD $168 advance auto parts)? and will my starter work on that engine as well? Also does any one know the part number to the heater control valve or where i might find one?

If you're still going to run the computer, you can use you dist.
I'd suggest upgrading your starter to a 350 starter. The 307 will work, but not for long.
Heater control valve should be available via Autozone or something similar.

Or, to put it another way, most 307s came with the CCC system and the distributor ONLY works with the computer. If your 307 distributor does not have a vacuum advance canister, it's the computerized version. The advance curve is computer controlled and cannot be altered without burning a new PROM. Used HEI cores run about $15 around here.
