Cad plating on a carburetor

Is the cad plating on carburetor parts of a special type, or could I use any good plating shop?

Thanks, Peter

What parts are you referring to? The main body and airhorn are zinc chromate plated, not cad. Are the air valves cad plated? I don't know. Maybe the secondary rod hanger is cad plated. I think the linkage is natural silver color. Is that silver cad?

Is there a place that any of you might recommend to have some Zinc Chromate plating done on my carbs?

Sparkys Carbs great guy to deal with. He did my carb and it looks incredible.

For linkages and moving exterior parts/screws you could use a plating shop. Just specify cad. Are you rebuilding the carb yourself or having it done? A good re-builder will do all that for you and it shouldn't cost an arm or leg. I bought a 7042250 for my car completely redone (no core charge) from Rusty Petrovic for around 250.00 It looked like it had just come out of the box from GM. Check the pricing on plating vs. rebuild.

I was thinking of getting a solid core to use as a guinea pig while learning how to service my carb. If I do not destroy it in the process then I was thinking of giving it some makeup.
There are some ugly ones on ebay for about $50 that would suit my purpose. I am just waiting for at least the right year application, 1970.

Cheers, Peter
