A/C question

I have a 68 442 with factory a/c. I need the discharge and suction hoses. I see that lsitings are for 67-72, but wasn't the compressor on the passenger side in 68 and the driver side from 69 on? I know Chevelle was that way. Also, which outlet on the compressor does the discharge and suction hose connect to? When I do get the hoses, I want to make sure I put thme on the correct side.

Oldsmobile had all the compressors on the passenger side. Right off, I don't know which hose goes on which side, but the Chassis Service Manual should say. I can also provide a photo of the setup on my 1971 wagon, I believe it would be the same as the 1968. John

My 68 (Toronado) has the compressor on the right side,as well as my father's former 63 Starfire.

Lots of things on a Cutlass are unlike those on a Chevelle...

Thanks all. That clears that up. So the hoses from 67 to 72 should be the same. That make repros available.

John...if you could get a quick shot of the routing of the two hoses, that would be great. I am pretty sure I have them right, but it's funny the more you look at things, you doubt yourself. Since I have to replace them anyway, better safe than sorry. That r12 is too expensive to waste!

Has anyone ever used Classic Auto Air? They said they can restore my original hoses for about the same price as repros. Would like to know how the quality is.

Ctrain22: I just purchased a Sanden compressor mount for my '68 FlatTop Wagon (Silver Bullet; converting from the A6 compressor - 32 lbs and robbing 20-25 HP everytime it kicks in; SB is shown in Street Stock anyway, so who cares?), and am extremely pleased with the pricing, the product, and the attitude of everyone I interacted with at Classic Auto Air! Highly recommend them, although I know nothing about the restoration of the A/C hoses; a good thing to know about them.

Aron- tell us more about that Olds Sanden compressor bracket. I'd heard one of the A/C companies was working one up but haven't seen one.
