I need to remove my 1955 Olds hood so that i can pull the motor out. There are two odd shaped bolts that fasten the arms of the hood hinge to the edge of the hood. Are those the two bolts on each side that i need to remove? The bolts have a round head and flat area on each side

It's easier to remove the hood with the hinges and springs attached. It is held on by three bolts on each side. One is in the engine compartment. Two are located inside, under the dash above the kick panels.

 

If you remove the hood without the hinges, I would scribe some lines on the hood around the hinge mounts prior to removing, makes it much easier to line up when re-installing.
