Couldn't find answer searching older posts, so: what are physical differences between automatic console shifter bases/units as far as model years go? Pictures would be helpful, thanks
I'm assuming you are asking about the 67-69 vs 70-72, correct?
67-69 look like this. Note the short pin where the cable attaches and the bent-up bracket on the driver's side where the NSS mounts. Also note the upturned tabs forward of the stick for attaching the console.
1970 looks like this. Again, note the mounting feature for the NSS, but no console tabs. Also, differences in the front and rear portions of the base where the cable clips into place and the rear of the bracket mounts to the floorpan (the bolt holes are further apart in the front/back dimension).
Here's the 71/72. Note no provision for the NSS, longer pin for the cable, and the notch at the front of the bracket is offset to the left to match the cable location. Also, the holes at the rear of the base are much further apart.
And just for completeness, here's a 73-77 shifter. The big difference here is that unlike in prior years where the finger grip was fixed and you pressed down on the ball, the 73-77 shifters have the ball fixed and you pull up on the finger grip. The detent plate is completely different as a result, and obviously the base plate is also completely different.
