Any Oldsmobile workers from the 70s?

I have a bill of lading for my car. There is a box marked "special instructions".
In there it says "ENGR CAR 69646".
Can anyone here tell me what this meant?

Interesting. Where did you find the Bill of Lading for your car? Someone had mentioned the shipper, in addition to the dealership, would had gotten a copy. Anchor Motors was the shipper for GM back in the 60’s and 70’s. I tried to contact Anchor Motors to see if they possibly still had their copies stored somewhere, but was told the original company is no longer functioning and no one knows where the bill of lading copies are stored.

I'd say that means it was an Engineering Car. I noticed the Ship to: information is Produce Delivery in Lansing. This was probably a Product Evaluation vehicle or some executive's company car.

My friend found a similar document in a ‘69 Grand Prix he bought. It was specifically built for a big shot executive and delivered internally. It had the 428 HO engine, 4-speed, A/C, posi rear axle, and leather seats.

Dealer code by zone according to the Oldsmobile, Pontiac and Buick sites are the same by ZONE so say for instance code 7 is Michigan for all. I tried briefly looking for Caddys but no list online that I could see.

Dealer code zone 52 does not pop up on anyones list!

Engr Could be a code for a company car. Or it could have been test mule for engineering is my best guess.

As a kid/teenager I had a few neighbor hood friends that their dads were engineers for Oldsmobile. One of them actual drove one test mule home to show me all the computer boxes for monitoring systems on the car.

Thanks for the input guys.
This was the only thing that came with the car, which seemed odd to me.
No Owners manual, window sticker or protect-o-plate.
Just this, why keep it and nothing else?

I considered the mule theory, but why so late in the model year?
Also why a bill of lading for a car that wasn't shipped if went straight to product delivery.

Guess it will remain a mystery.
