Air Conditioner
I have replaced the compressor and the dryer on my 68 442. I pulled vacuum on it and recharged it. I have put 52oz of r12 in it and a 4oz can of oil charge. The a/c is cool and not getting cold. I did notice that the hose that is going to the poa valve did ice up but it doesnt appear to be not doing it anymore. The high side is measuring about 160 psi and the low side is setting around 56. Is there anything else I may need to check?
thanks

Agree w/ Kenneth - low side ~30 - 35 psi. What is your ambient temperature. Say today it's 90°F in Houston, your high-side should be ~ 180 - 230 psi. Far too high on the low-side and far too low on the high-side. Generally, this can be the result of far too much refrigerant &/or oil added and air remaining in the system. Anyway, high-side should be x2 ambient + 50.
It's about 85 degree here because its raining. I will take some of the freon out and see what the psi reads. I did call Classic Air and told them the POA valve did ice up and according to them that's probably the problem. They are suggesting I send my POA to them for rebuild or use a POA valve by pass. I have not decided what to do yet. As you guys know r12 when you do find it is expensive so I do have about 10 more cans of it, I just don't want to waste what I have left.
I just may convert it over to 134a or Vintage Air.

Perhaps similar to what I went through two years ago. AC Evap Core puking green from under the underside AC not working. Replaced AC Evap Core, new compressor and new drier. Mine was converted to R34A. Frosting of the POA valve. Tried to clean POA for 3 days - no good. Ordered/Installed new POA and the AC is colder than in my newer F250 - it's frigid (like many of my H.S. girlfriends).
