Has anyone documented their work with restoring a set of '70-'72 A body Kick Panels?
I have ours out of the car, and figured it would be a perfect oportunity to clean them up, and make them look like "new" again. I've cleaned off the factory sealer that seals the panels to the body, I have also soaked the vent doors in Evaporust, to clean off a small amount of surface rust that formed on them, .....I would like to bead blast these doors, and refinish them in a semi gloss black paint, but am a bit undesided because I don't want to have to disassemble them (drill out the rivets that hold the inner/outer pieces, as well as the hindge pins, together), that being said, I was thinking of giving them a "light dusting" with the bead blaster to remove the paint and use a liquid masking film to mask off the rivet heads as well as the unpainted hinge parts.
Just looking for input from anyone that has restored theirs, and or anyone that can give some input as to the type of masking film that will stand up to a Rustolium type paint.
Another thing that I will be tackling is touching up the inner side of the leading edge of the panels that unfortunately have a light coat of body color paint, from a poor masking job in the past. The panels are black, and I was leaning towards using a vinyl/plastic dye instaed of trying to remove the overspray.

I restored my kick AC panels & dash using SEM products and the results were very good. I used SEM#15013 Landau Black for the kicks and SEM#15243 Satin Black for the dash. Here's links to my build thread.
Not sure what kind of blaster you plan to use but I have seen some smaller ones that look kind of like an air brush used on some restoration Youtube videos. It seems there would be a greater amount of control concerning where you want to stream of "sand" to go and not go. Just an idea, no idea where you could get one though.
