68/69 vs. 70/72 Wheel Well Interchange?

Can you use a RH 68-69 front wheel well in place of a 70-72? It looks to me like the spacing of the holes for the 4 bolts that hold the front of the wells to the fore support is slightly different but everything else looks the same. Thanks!

Hi Joe, you don't waste anytime between projects do you? I've been following it on your other post. Nice car! Man I'd be pissed at the guy that sold it to you for the shape of that engine! As far as the wheel wells go I can't see how they'd interchange. The shape of the '68-'69 wheel opening is much rounder than the '70-'72. I doubt the outer bolt holes around the fender would line up. Also while doing some detailing on my buddy Brian's '70 W30 this past summer I noticed that the front "shelf"area where the 4 frt mounting bolts go looks a little shorter than on my '68.

Look again, specifically at the shape of the wheel opening where the inner fender bolts to the metal fender. They are NOT the same.

It's not clear from the post but I think he might be talking about the inner fenders. I didn't even think the inner fenders were interchangeable between 68-69, I'm sure they don't fit 70-72

He IS talking about the inner fenders, as am I. My point was that the inner fenders bolt to the outer fender at the wheel opening. The wheel opening shapes are different, thus the inner fenders are also different because of this.
