I had never considered them as anti-theft devices. Always thought they were a styling gimmick to hide valve stems.
But since it would take Midnight Auto Supply way longer to swipe these than simply prying off a wheelcover would, I can see the anti-theft aspect. Guess Olds had to do something to quieten down owners who were getting their Fiesta caps stolen.
