56 Olds cowl tag decode

Hi,

I have a cowl tag from a 56 Olds Holiday Hardtop that I'm getting ready to bring back to life. Can you help me decode the cowl tag info below?

Style No: 56-3637
Body No: BK 2446
Trim No: 360
Paint No: S64-63
Top: ACC.

Thanks in advance!

George

Welcome. I moved your post to it's own thread because typically you'll get a better response that way than resurrecting a three year old thread. Good luck and post photos when you can.

I can do some of it. That is the body & style number plate. The 56 is for the model year. 3637 is the Fisher body style number; it's a Holiday coupe in the 88 series. The BK means it was assembled at the Kansas City plant. In those days they had 10 plants. The rest I am unsure about. They did have paint numbers of 64 and 63. The 64 was "Citation Bronze" and the 63 was "Shantung Beige". Someone else probably can clarify the remainder.

Thank you Ozzie and Joe. If you are able to locate any additional information on the trim no. That would be great. I uploaded an image of the old girl in this reply. Hopefully you can see it.

Much appreciated
George

Thanks for the photo. She appears to be in good condition and the tag codes appear to be accurate. I'm wondering if the paint is "original". If so, it would be nice if it could be saved "as is".

Hi Ozzie,

Yes, i believe the paint is original as she only has 52k miles. Car has been in the family since it was purchased new in 56, so I'm fairly certain that this is a survivor.

She still runs well and is in dire need of some TLC.

Thanks,
George

It sounds like a gem. It deserves the TLC and inside storage. If you need some questions answered come to the forum. A search or new thread can work wonders for information. If you are keeping the car try to get an owner manual and shop manual for 1956.
