I have a shifter handle that I thought was for a 70-72 with console but I'm not sure. The number stamped in it is 8740.

 

I was just searching through some old posts and found one that identifies it as a possible 1973.

 

The easy way to tell is the location of the "H" relative to the bend in the stick. The 70-72 sticks have the bend above the "H". The 73-77 have it below. And yes, 8740 is the 73-77 stick.

I checked my shifter handle and the H is located above the bend. It's a 73-77 for sure. Thanks for the help..
