1972 A Body rear window defogger

I am wondering if anyone else knows if you could still get the rear window defogger in a Cutlass in 1972. This would be the motor driven fan unit and not the electrical heat sensors in the rear glass. I know I pulled one out of a 72 Cutlass Post Coupe many years ago from the junk yard and still have it. It had the plastic pan for the motor and the grate was plastic as well that was used later on for years. I have looked through all my sales manuals and cannot find anything other than the heated glass option. Any help?

Pretty certain '70 was the last year for the blower type. I've a handful of '70-'72 cars with rear defog & all the '71-'72 cars had the grid type. Also I believe the Oldsmobile blower type versions used the metal tray. As far as I know, the plastic type were either later years or Chevy, maybe other brands also but I know I've pulled plastic ones from Chevies. As far as that post coupe you pulled it from, maybe someone added it? Was the correct heater face plate there also?

Scott,
That's the weird part as yes it did have the correct heater control panel with the defogger switch.

I wouldn't think the factory would have any of the blower type laying around after the '70 year? Maybe a previous owner bought it over the counter at a dealer & it was old stock or someone that knew what they were doing pulled it from a '70 for that car?? Hard to say at this point.
