There are two emissions sticker reproductions I keep running into and I want to know if anyone has seen them on their cars or know where they are supposed to be installed. I have a California emissions Rallye 350 and am most curious about the red Warning sticker regarding the pressurized fuel system and non-vented gas cap, and the under hood emissions sticker that references a different method of adjusting the carburetor - however this only refers to an automatic car, and I have a 4-speed. I've heard the fuel sticker would go on the inside of the flip down license plate holder - makes sense - but the other emissions sticker I've heard was on the air cleaner, on the snorkel, on the fan shroud.... if anyone can shed light on these, it would be appreciated.
I can't thank you enough - I looked all over that manual and just looked in the wrong places, I guess. Tremendous help, as always. Thank you
You're welcome Bob. Pages are 0-108 and 0-109. I might not have found it either but I saw it a few weeks ago and remembered where the reference was in the index.
Bob, the decal I didn't recognize actually is a California Evap Emission Label similar to the one that goes on the top plate as in the first cut I posted.
However that decal is not like the factory decal that came on my car. My decal has a yellow background and the wording is quite different. Maybe it's one of those from a supplier like Year One whose motto must be if it fits a Chevelle, it's correct for your Cutlass.

This is the other one I had seen, however in checking other sites I never saw it confirmed to be for a Cutlass... I got the white one, but I still don't like that it only refers to an auto trans. Honestly, this one is probably more "correct" in actual procedures than the other.
Bob, the decal with the yellow background is MUCH closer to the original. Wording is different in one spot and, of course, font and text size are off. Colors are correct. Part number is correct. Overall, I'd say its 90% correct. Note no mention of transmission type, so it's a better match for your car in that regard as well.
The biggest difference is that the original is all upper-case letters except for the bottom line.
How hard would CAPS be to replicate? I feel a rant coming on about repro parts, so I'll stop here.
Where did you find the yellow label? And is it vinyl or paper? (Original is vinyl.)
The yellow one is from OPGI if you look under Chevelle engine compartment decals. If that's a better match to what I should have - and I think it is - I'll do a little more digging today and see what I can find. And you're right - this really seems like a simple copy to make. Why make it wrong???
Here is a photo of my original on a flattop wagon. The decal has a clear glossy film over the top which allowed me to clean it and re-adhere it to the tank in the same spot. Just for reference.

I'm sure the one I bought will not have that clear, but it looks like something that can be duplicated - that really helps, thank you!!
EDIT - I found clear inspection sticker overlays that states use to protect windshield decals for 20 cents apiece on several web sites. I ordered some of those and that should make things look like they're supposed to (I hope).

OK, so I got the reproduction decals today, and the red caution was paper and dull, not like the one above on Funkwagon’s car. I also got the clear inspection sticker overlays, and they look like the right thickness to be a clear over a decal. So here’s what I did:
Here are the clear stickers and the new decal
Cut the clear in half to fit the height of the decal
Carefully pulled the backing off and laid the decal face down on the clear
Rubbed the face of the clear for full adhesion and even appearance
Trimmed the edges, leaving an overlap around the edge
Peeled the backing from the clear and from the decal
Installed where it should be according to the manual
Received my fuel filler door sticker today and it seems the color is more orange than the samples above.
Was the sticker originally orange and then it fades to that more reddish hue after 50+ years?
Any thoughts on if this one is the correct color?
My original is more reddish like the original photo. I’ll gather we are at the mercy of those who take the incentive to reproduce them until someone takes it to the next level.
