1969 Cutlass service manual
1969 Cutlass service manual
Can’t seem to find a Chilton service manual for a 1969 cutlass. Seem to be plenty of 1970-1987 Chilton manuals, would that be good enough for a 69?
I have a 69 Fisher body, and plan on buying the chassis manual as well.
Any source of information that would be better? Looking for basics to tune and set up a stock 1969 350 4 bbl.

Don't waste your time or money on anything other than factory manuals, the CSM and the Fisher Body Manual. Chiltons/Hayes/Motors are worthless. They are the Cliff Notes version of the factory manuals.
All of the CSMs have color wiring diagrams, at least for the basic equipment. The CSM wiring diagram for the 442 with internal regulator and Rally Pac is unfortunately in B&W.
There are about a dozen original 1969 CSMs on ebay as I write this. The least expensive one has a current bid of $15.99. It's a little beat up, but mine all have greasy fingerprints on them anyway. I can't see paying stupid money for a perfect copy.

Factory manual is the best as it covers everything for your specific year.
That said, a Chilton/Motor/Glenn Service or Professional Trades Edition is handy. That's what reputable garages servicing multiple makes used in the days before AllData. Believe it or not they include great info on unit repair such as starter, generator, A/C and the like. But it has to be the Professional or Service Trades Edition.
Haynes are totally, completely, unequivocally useless.

I had a original service manual for my 69 that was in pretty bad shape when I got it back in the early 90s. It finally fell apart a d bought a reprint. First time I opened it I was disappointed with the black and white wiring diagrams. Lucky for me the wire diagrams in the factory manual were still in pretty good shape, I laminated them and keep them in a bookcase.
A good factory manual is well worth the money. Chiltons and Motor manuals are pretty generic, the factory books will detail specifics to your model year.
