1968 cutlass convertible dont close??

Hi

My cutlass convertible top donīt close, it stops a pit before the windsheld?
What do I need to adjust?

the car has ben sitting for about 4-5 years with the roof down, and the first time I tried the convertible, it was closing a bit more than it does now. hmmm?

Here is a link to a pic of how it looks : http://www.ladda-upp.se/bilder/bdhbdfdiatnail/

Also when I already started a new thread, does anyone have some good picture of how I loose the dashboard??

Thanx!!

It may be low on fluid.

Agreed may be low on fluid. Top may have shrunk up a bit too. Thats about how much gap you leave when you install a new top so it can stretch some with use and still be tight.

Look in the trunk, right below the rear window, and make sure there isn't anything blocking the lower trim stick from moving up all the way. Also, have you tried to raise the top with the windows rolled down? The glass may not be aligning with the slots in the weatherstrips.

Other than that, as posted above, the top material may take a while to stretch out since it's been folded up for so many years. Parking it in the sun (if you have any this time of year) might help.

The trim stick is different in 68. It's three pieces and is lag screwed right under the pinch weld moulding

I vote for the low fluid as well

My top if left for a long time in the down position(all winter) will have that gap. I just put a 25 lb bag of shot and let it sit for a hour or so in the sun or warm garage, usually that is enough stretch to get it latched......Tedd
