Has anyone ever noticed a blemish on the lower front side of 1967 Cutlass/442 hood lip moulding?

Here's my example of 6 mouldings I have in my 67 parts collection. Various conditions from driver quality to extremely nice.

5 have identical small blemish in same spot.

I wanted to share in case fellow Oldsmobiliers have seen the same and wondered if it was a common blemish.

A friend of mine used to work in the chrome shop back in the 80's at Lansing BOC- as it was called then- Buick, Olds, Cadillac- after it was just Oldsmobile... Anyway... In the 90's or so he showed be a spot on the early 80's Olds' rear bumper that would always rust. He said that was where the grinder or polisher would bounce hard. He was right every car had that rust whereas no rust on the rest of bumper. I thought that was interesting.

 

I have a few of this mldg and yes it has a blemish in this spot.
