1965 Starfire

I have a 1965 Starfire with a 425 cu in v8 in it. Looking the engine over the other day and i found this number stamped on the passenger side head that was 35697 S.

Could someone explain what this means.

There should also be a "N" prefix. It is the engine unit number. Will also be on the Protec-O-Plate if you have it.

What it means, then, is that your Starfire has a Starfire motor! Arguably (and I like to argue ) one of the best motors Olds ever offered.
