1955 Olds Right Hand Exhaust Manifold Question
Hi,
My question has to do with the stud set up for the right hand manifold for 54 and 55 324 Olds motors. I just got the manifold back from the machine shop I use and was surprised to find out they pressed what I thought were broken studs out. There were no threads in the manifold. The Left hand side which also had broken studs have threads which had to be drilled and heli coils installed. I plan to sell these manifolds and want to make sure the right hand side is good. As an aside, if it does use a press in stud, how long are they and are they all one piece (goes all the way through to service both sides of the opening) or split (shorter studs pressed in from both sides)?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Thanks for your help.

Hi,
I found my answer at the aaca.org site under the Oldsmobile section. Apparently 3 each 3/8 X 4 1/2 inch bolts were used, so no studs. This makes a lot of sense to me as there were no thread marks in the area in question. Hope this information is helpful to others as well.
