1955 Olds Horn parts

It appears my 1955 olds does not all the proper parts in the column to make the horn work. Can anyone tell me what all goes in the column to activate the horn?

Ranmat, the Horn parts are horn ring and horn ring insulator, contact assembly ,cushion, and another insulator. If you have access to a repair manual (Original from OLDSMOBILE) pictures are listed in Section 5 -3&4. You can Google horn Ring parts for "55 Chevrolet (Image) and get a general idea. HOPE this helps. I also found '55-'58 GM horn kit instructions on (ididitnc.com) that has step by step instructions / pictures. It appears that most '55-58 GM's will work so you may be able to find a kit easier than just trying for Olds. Just checked and Ecklers Classic Chevy has the kit for Chevrolets for $20.95 .Hope it's the same as Olds. Larry

I Don't See Any Parts missing or out of order. Is the horn not working when it's all put together or is it shorting out and blowing without pushing the ring down? If you don't have access to the olds manual PM me and I will try to take a picture from my manual and get them back to you. Just sand and clean especially the contacts, when you put everything back together. Larry

Larry, these are parts I removed from a dead car. I was posting photos to try and help the OP identify what might be missing from his car. But considering my memory, or lack there of... I was asking if you'd verify I had things in the right order

Sorry True Blue,I guess I didn't understand, but yes everything seems to be where it belongs. I've not had the steering wheel off the car that I have now,and it's been years since I worked on one. Larry

Buick should work, doubtful Chrysler would be the same or even adaptable. Complete steering wheels come up on Ebay every now and then but you might give 2blue442 a PM and see if he has that wheel for sale. ... Lost in the fifties ...Tedd

Hello Ben
Sorry, I think I sold these parts to Ranmat in 2014. But here's a link to a thread of someone selling 1955-56 parts. I'd encourage you to check with him to see if he has the parts available. John
