Beware of this sport wheel on eBay

This does NOT look like a GM wheel but he claims to be NOS GM. Appears to be the early reproduction. The guy has good feedback so either he don't know what he is selling or who knows?

Repop steering wheel

I agree it is not genuine GM. The pebbled grain is twice the size of a real wheel. He had another one listed on ebay last week and it sold. Same price. As they say, there is one born every day.

So its the texture to the grain that's not correct? Anything else you guys are seeing as a red flag?

Is it true that another sign of a repo is that the numbers are raised and not recessed?

Does Ebay even care about something like this?

I did not think The Parts Place put the part number on it, but I don't know?

parts place has a number on it, another difference is the slope of the spokes. Here is an easy way to tell a real one. There is one depressed knock out on the back of a real one. At least on all the ones I have seen. Here is an image of two real ones and the repo. One original has little grain left on the front, but notice how both originals look good on the back. The repo is a thicker grain.

He did not say "I purchased it" he said "This wheel was purchased" and all NOS wheels are extinct. I'm willing to bet with as any as were made there are at least two NOS ones sitting inside someones closet of parts.

I don't own any of them or I would sell you one. Last I knew, Ron Memmer had 2 of them. I am sure he would sell you one.
