I have a 59 98 coupe that has started to squeak and creak as it goes backwards, and only in gear and going in reverse and the noise speeds up with the car. If you roll the car or run it with the wheels off the ground there is no noise. I took out the tailshaft and it seems good, no notchy U Joints or centre bearing. Do the Jetaways have any strange maladies like this?

Rear wheel bearing? With the wheel and drum off, try to move the axle shaft up and down.

 

I will have a go at that this weekend, this one is areal odd one
