Cowl decode
Just got my first 72 cutlass supreme can anyone help me decide cowl # st 72 - 34257 z 06508 5 bdy. Tr 979 a65 8181 pnt. any help would be appreciated

And when you do that, see if it matches this:
ST 72 = style/model year = 1972
34257: 3 = GM division = Oldsmobile; 42 = model series = Cutlass Supreme; 57 = body type = 57 = 2 door Supreme.
Z = assembly plant = Fremont CA
06508 5 BDY = Fisher body number (no relation to the VIN)
TR 979 = interior color = saddle
8181 PNT: 81 = lower body color = bamboo; 81 = upper body color = bamboo.
Below that should be two numbers and a letter that indicate the time build date of your car. For example, 03C = March (03), third week of that month (C), 1972. Another example, 11A = November (11), first week of that month (A), 1971.
