Thank you 80 Rocket & 67 Cutlass Freak!!!
Thank you 80 Rocket & 67 Cutlass Freak!!!
I met these guys yesterday for the first time after they offered up some (99.9%) help with my budget build. They really came through for me and none of them knew me, yet they gave up their Sunday to help an absolute stranger out. Props to Copper Cutlass too, who also came out to join in the fun! So I just want to say what honest, smart and hard working guys they are and Thanks again. I look forward to meeting up again in the future. They are A+ in my book.

Jim, It was good to meet you. This was a lot of fun, and hard work. It's too bad Don was so slow, and meticulous about specin' out, and assembling your short block. We could have probably bolted the heads on, if he wasn't slackin' so much. That might have been harder to load though. All kidding asside, I hope this engine meets all your performance expectations, and holds up well for you. Now you know who to call when you wanna go even faster. Hope you can make it out to the track this summer, or even just stop over to show off your hot rod.

Wow no foolin' round, dial bore gauge set, complete mic set and the whole crew. Helping out a fellow Oldsmobile enthusiast without knowing them is 'WOW' I'm lost for words.
Put 'er' ther you guys rock !!!
Cheers

It was nice meeting you Jim . Hopefully we can all get to the track together sometime. It was also awesome to watch Dave and Don do their thing. I always learn something new hanging out over at Dave's .
I didn't realize how many parts I had in stock until you came over. Bearings? On the shelf.....cam bearings? Got 'em. 80 Rocket fubared #1 cam bearing during install? New cam bearing is just a text away. Hardened pushrods? Please, get them out of my sight, tired of hanging on to them. Your crank was borderline but it did polish up nice, I had one in the truck on standby just in case, though.
Come to think of it, I had a set of springs at my shop that would have worked with that cam I had. Wish I would have remembered that. And if you need a 455 block for the future build, I got one you can have ($0). It's going to need the full treatment of machine work (line hone, bore/hone, decking) but it's an F block.
It didn't seem like work, I had fun. I'm actually surprised Dave didn't port your head as well. He usually can't help himself. And when he starts......it's best to let him finish. LOL!!!

I was impressed by the stock you guys had on hand. lol. That's awesome, I will probably take you up on that block. I probably have a few parts you'll be interested in too. I will be calling. I definitely want to meet up at the drag strip too, just give me a shout.
