1983 Delta 88 posi rear, fit in a G body? Worth anything?

I found a wrecked '83 Delta 88 4 door today with a posi rear in it. Don't know if it will fit a G body or if it's worth anything to anyone??

grab the wheel covers/ hub caps
ck the VIN for K engine = 403 = big brakes and big diff

oh mid 80's
never mind
probably a 2.56 ratio
very limited utility I think, probably B-bodies only but ck with the experts.
You may find the ratio listed on a sticker in the trunk, super easy to get that info

Chris,
I checked the trunk lid, no spid sticker?! but did not check vin. I did grab the trim rings & might go back for the wheels & centers.
Thanks for the info!

Since it has the rally wheels, it can't be the big brakes. Big brakes would have the 5 inch bolt pattern wheels. Quite sure 403 would have required the 5 inch pattern wheels also. Greg.

It is an 8.5" rear, but the best gear it would have is 3.08. More likely to be 2.41 or 2.56.

Scott, nothing special about the car except the sport wheel center caps. The wheels are 15" and are interchangeable with A and G body. The posi isn't though.

That is a 307, not a 403 so absolutely not worth saving.

The B-body cars are MUCH wider than a G-body. Do YOU think it fits?

Also, the B-body cars could have come with 7.5" or 8.5" axles, depending on equipment.

Joe,
I thought it probably didn't fit but my knowledge of B & G bodies is pretty limited. I think from the small triangles on the bottom of the diff. it is the 8.5. I believe the 7.5 has small "fangs" instead of the triangles.

Probably 25 yrs ago, I pulled a 3.73 posi rear from my 77 cutlass (too high of a gear for that car) and sold it to a friend for his 454 powered 79 caprice. Bolted right in. With that in mind, that posi rear in the delta 88 would be a good candidate for the 73-77 guys. I do believe that it would have limited ratios that would be able to be installed though. The brakes would be smaller on the delta rearend vs the 73-77 rear also. Just my 2 cents. Greg.

If the price is right... you might be able to pull the posi carrier out to transplant into a 1971-72 Cutlass housing. I'm not positive, but think it may be the corporate 8.5" in the Delta. Maybe monzaz could help you decide if the parts are worth getting.
