Oh Shoot. I dropped something in fuel tank

Ok I was pouring gas into my tank as I had 5 gallons extra in a portable tank. Fuel was good. As I was pouring it in the funnel popped off and just fell into the tank.
So:
1. Does it need to come out
2. What are the issues i will have if I leave it in.
Tank is 80% full
The funnel is plastic...I hope the news is positive

If the car still runs and you have no problems putting in fuel, nothing to worry about.

I would say your good for a little bit, gas might end up eating the plastic after a while,

I would be more worried about it getting hung on the fuel gauge float than anything else, don't think gas would effect funnel much they are made to take solvents. This sounds a lot like something I would do....Tedd

If gas gets low, will funnel make a noise in gas tank from bouncing around? If it dose, you will know you need to get gas!

I had a 67 chevy malibu that when I got below 2 gallons you would here a ball roll around the tank. Then I would hit everyone up for gas money.
Guess my biggest concern is if it makes contact with the pick up sock,,,,it will send those fuel line clogging shreds of material all over the tank. I am feeling more confident after the posts. Guess I should begin preparing for an issue and buy replacement parts for the tank....murphys law you know!!
