Never seen that before. I can say that the rivets look tampered with.

That indicates a special color order. Before the - - codes.

I think there were some Toronado paints that could be special ordered.I'll check with Curt Anderson and see if he has the answer.

I have not seen that, but it looks all right. Large misalignment between special and paint on angle, but some of that is present in a lot.

Here is picture of firewall showing L L in crayon. This is listed as Tahoe Turquoise which was not a special color for the 442 from what I can tell. Maybe it was the red/burgandy interior that is special??

That is an odd one. I might have to investigate adding "Special" to the database. Trim code 975-B is indeed Red.

What also interests me is the 5P. Someone on here recently asked about 5P but the car was disassembled so maybe we can get the answer here...

I have one Pontiac reference for code 5P; "Luggage Light" and it states in my notes "FRA (Framingham) only" so do you have a luggage light? If there is, that solves this mystery.

I guess the trunk light is a viable one for that.

My guess was going to be heater delete. Or maybe they just used a non-AC firewall with a block-off plate.

They must have removed the HVAC completely as 2K is A/C. I show Heater delete is 2H.

Ah Good! Ok so it appears that 5P is indeed a trunk light. Thanks much! Adding to the decoder...

Ive yet to see a car without a trunk light, it was a very popular option. To say 5P is the trunk light just because two cars have it is highly speculative.

Well my 67 post car does not have a trunk light or a glove box light. It is a Lansing car with no P....

Link to ebay car.

I agree that there is some speculation regarding this specific code and I want to be as accurate as possible, but I feel that sometimes consensus is the best hope until better information comes along. After exhausting several online and printed resources, my notes regarding 5P was the only reference I have found so far.

There was another question on CO about 5P on another 67 just recently. Ttaking into account that this note I have states "FRA only" and the other 67 in question was a FRA car as well as this one and I am hoping that my hypothesis is correct. I also base this in the fact that all GM divisions share most codes, operative word, most, certainly not all. Many of the Chevy sites have the most complete data set, but there is no mention of 5P anywhere. Information is scarce, spotty and sometimes just wrong and sometimes a best guess is all anyone has.

Believe me, I am not married to any of the codes in my database, if someone can prove me wrong on any code, I welcome it. In my day job I have an expectation of 100% accuracy 24/7/365. Though I would like that here I would be happy with 90%.

Its Tahoe Turquoise with a red interior and red pin stripe. That's really odd. Is that the "special"? I'd bet thats the ONLY '67 442 3 speed Turquoise/Red car built.

You never know if it's the only one built because those records don't exist.

No idea about the codes, but I'm surprised no one has commented on the rare "three speed on the floor" option.

Nice one Eric, but that trans appears to be a 4spd Muncie on the floor!

How about the even rarer 66 3 on the tree option?

Nice info, my only question would be what was special on this car in the starter thread? If LL is the paint color as it appears to be, that is not special as it is an optional color. The only thing that seems out of line is the red interior with this exterior color.

I've seen a lot of cars over the years but I don't believe I've ever seen the paint code written on the firewall like that car.

I think its the interior color/ exterior color combination. I wouldnt think the two would normally be put together on a car. Thats definately Tahoe Turquoise, my favorite and the color im painting mine.
