water pump ?

'72 cutlass 350 I have eliminated a/c , have brackets for alternator to pax side w/ correct pulleys per olds build manual and the water pump pulley is 0ne groove to far forward. The books say the pump should be 5.572", but it looks to me a 5" pump would work an make all grooves align. Am I correct? Thx, tomc5

71/72 with
A/C use 6" pump
W-30 non A/C use 5.5" pump
Non W, non A/C use 5" pump
If you have switched brackets and pulleys, the 5" pump should work. Non A/C water pump pulley is different than A/C pulley. Crank pulley is probably different also, cant remember for sure.

Any parts store should be able to get the 71/72 5" pump. If you want the factory correct pump it will be casting #408328. Also identified by a "1" casting at top of pump. I have a core if you need it.
