I recently found a photo of my first Oldsmobile. A 68 Cutlass Supreme purchased new in September 1968. Photo is from 1972. Its the only one I have of this car, not very flattering.
Anyone care to post their first, or early Olds pictures? I'm sure you have more interesting ones. Like when they were brand new right from the dealer. Or maybe at the drag strip?

The brown one you're seeing is my Dad's very first car (where the Oldsmobile legacy started, I suppose). A '72 with a 2bbl 350! He has pics of this thing driving through FEET of snow. He always tells me how much of a tank it was. Says he had headers, (which is probably why he won't let me get some, LOL) a custom stone sheild (which is very funky IMO), and some other little things. Basic 18 year old customizations, I suppose. The group shot is a nice little throwback, too. You can see on the very left is my Dad's current one he still owns, then a few frends', his Brown one, and his brother's. That one isn't alive anymore to our knowledge.

Barn find second time around, a shot of my Old's shortly after I pulled it from its resting place of 20 years.. I wish I had taken a few pictures of it when we first found it in 1978 it was in much better shape then.....Tedd
Those were full hubcaps not dog dish. It's hard to tell because the pic is dark. I took it with one of those disposable cameras, so you never now what you got until you got it developed.

Here's its modern day twin I found a pic of. Completely identical except the rims and mine had A/C.
Here's a oldie. My Great Grandma in front of my Grandpas 59. Crazy to think that car was brand new in this picture

heres mine

the 71 was my dads he picked it up in ~84 local newspaper ad he drove it till ~96 no real issues but he wasnt a car guy he just liked convertables the pic is about 1989. he gave it to me in 96 I had no cash to work on it so it was stored (poorly) for ~15 years till I pulled it out ready to rebuild and
it was so far gone it was nothing more than a parts car, but, the wheels were in motion so i hunted down a compatible car that could use those parts and ended up w my 72
.
the other 71 was mine i always liked the Fords and actually have only owned 1 GM prior to aquireing the 71 and 72
here it is in 11

You better double check with your old man...the only thing it was doing fast in a lot of snow was getting stuck. :\
Ahhh its been so long...he could of had snow tires!!!! I never had any guess thats why i always got stuck

My first Olds, a '70 Cutlass convertible, in 1987, as I was installing a transmission.
Buddies in college had driven it for the previous few years, the last one blew the transmission, then gave it to me when he left.
Not a good panel on it, and there was no cloth on the top bows.
Ran like a scared deer, though.
Best. Car. Ever.

2Olds....that is a COOL picture. A '70 W30, parked in the street, in the snow?!? I love it.
Here's my contribution, circa 1990....
I bought my '72 that year, just sold her for parts in 2013. Lots of great times in that car, she served me well until the northeast ate her up.
The '68 Charger was a 383/4-speed car I bought from my friend's dad (original owner!). I was young, dumb and broke. Didn't know much about Mopar, needed repairs were piling up, sold it in '91. The guy I sold it to was a Mopar nut...his eyes almost popped out of his head when he saw it. Didn't even haggle my (too low!!) asking price
Boy do I wish I had THAT 1 back!

Lots of cool pix & stories!!
Here are a few of mine.
This orange one was my first car. Bought it in about '86? Back then everywhere you went you would see 4-5 Cutlass' driving around. All the yards had a few of them & they were pretty cheap.
Had a runnin' buddy about that time. We both had '71 Supremes, 455, auto, posi, buckets, etc..

I bought this '70 from a junkyard for $175.00. With a little work I got it running & played with it for a bit.

This is a picture of my first 6.
I bought the maroon '70 Supreme, broken down on the side of the highway for $40.00.
The '72 Bamboo Supreme was bought for $125.00.
I got my first Rallye for $1,000.00 sans engine.
A girlfriend bought me my first Vista for a birthday present for $200.00

Cool wagon shots, one of them is derby ready
only the 2 in the middle were mine.

My very first car, purchased in New London, CT, in April 1972, at 44,610 miles, for $1800. The picture was taken in Long Beach, CA, in the spring of 1974. I drove the car until the spring of 1981 and sold it in Concord, CA, at 161,000 miles, for $1000. It had a Canadian VIN and was a good car for the entire time I owned it. The original engine and transmission were already gone when I bought the car and in their place was a 1970 455 engine with a 1970 THM 400 and a 1970 console in the interior. I don't know what the original engine and transmission were, but that car would bark the tires going into 2nd and 3rd gears under as it shifted on its own under healthy acceleration. I've wondered if it was originally a manual transmission car with some pretty tall gears out back. In any case, though, it was a darn good car. I consistently got 14-15mpg on the road with it. It took me from CT to CA, then to DC, then to WA and then to CA before I sold it in 1981. And it was an Oldsmobile!

Here's 2 of me from 1988 when I went to Los Angeles County Raceway in Palmdale to clean house at the High School Drags, I was 16 here and the car was a fairly consistent mid 13 sec car then. 2014-01-20_012837.jpg 2014-01-20_012902.jpg
My grandfather was an Oldsmobile man, and my dad's first three cars were all Cutlasses; a 1970, 1974 and 1976. My grandfather picked out my dad's first car (the 1970) for him, my dad took a few days leave from the Air Force and flew home to buy it from the dealer. Drove it back to base and finished off his last few months of service. Drove the car home and began his post-military life. No pics of those handy
Here are my first two, probably in 1999. I would have been 19 at the time, and I've owned two cars at once from that time forward.

And a Polaroid shot of my current Cutlass, from I think the original owner in Arizona.

My first car it was a 69 3 speed convert, I was 15 then in year 1981.
Was looking for cars with my father, looked at everything Chevy's, GTO'S and ect. and just didn't like anything I saw.
In Ct.'s bargain news saw a 69 cutlass convert for sale.
Never will forget the day, got out of the car saw the back of the car then when I saw the rear quarters and how they were shaped ( in the 68' and 9's ) it was done didn't even need to look at the front. Been hooked ever since.
With my father's help, cloned into a 442 convert and painted it Trophy Blue.
Big problem though I actually thought it was a 442 ,
small missing fact didn't know then 442's were 344 in the vin.
But for a teenage ride
till 1991 it was great.

This was my first car at 17. I don't know if a lot of you guys would call 2003 "back in the day", but it is to me. When everyone else in my high school was driving some Japanese rattletrap, I was cruising in this. She was a 1972 Cutlass S 350/350 442 clone. The best cruising car I ever owned, and I miss it dearly. I did a full engine rebuild, Hooker headers, flowmasters and 3" pipes dumped at the rear axle. I'm still in touch with the current owner, been kicking around buying it back from him for a while now. The rust has gotten REALLY bad, though. No longer sure if it's worth saving.

Believe me, not much has changed. Except even though there are a ton of riceburning junk heaps at school, a lot of those boys have moved onto the 1.8 liter VWs. (As if they have any more class) They probably wouldn't be so bad if they didn't have the fart cans and the bodies rolling half an inch off the ground. I just love saying they could fit 3 of their motor inside mine.
Sweet pics!

I know it's not back in the day but it's the day I've seen her for the first time. It was a love at first sight, She looked so beautiful and innocent. I knew she has never been touched, I had to take her home.

This great thread finally prompted me to do something I've been meaning to do for a long time - scan some old photos! I've not had much luck with pictures here in the past so I hope this actually works.
Photo 1 is from about early 1972. The '70 Javelin (I have mixed loyalties since I grew up on AMC cars) was a 390 automatic and the first muscle car I ever owned. Bought it when it was about a year old. The '70 W30 was, and is, the real deal. I bought it from the local AMC garage in fall of '71. The guy that owned put almost 50,000 miles on it in a little over a year and got tired of the fuel cost even back then. It is a bench seat, 4 speed car. The only other option was an AM radio. The vinyl top was an aftermarket dealer installed item. This car was actually my wife's daily driver. Imagine that nowadays - no power steering, no power brakes, no ac and she drove it every day. Notice the white wall tires. I owned the car until 2011. When I sold it we found the broadcast card inside the rear seat. In all those years of ownership, I had never had the seat out!
Photos 2 & 3 are additional shots of the same car. These are probably from about 1973
Photo 4 is also from about 1973. The W30 is still there but the Javelin is gone. In it's place was a very rare (about 720 built) 1971 Hornet SC360. It was a bucket seat 4 speed car and a ball to drive. Next to the Hornet is my brothers '71 Comet. You can't see much from the photo but he had stuffed a real Boss 302 under the hood! The car was unbelievably fast.
Photo 5 is from about 1975. I was going to go racing with the car. We pulled the motor and rebuilt it and switched to a turbo 400. I wasn't that great with a 4 speed and didn't want to break a lot of parts. There are no red fender wells at this point because we had painted most of the engine bay with black Imron. It's a great paint but almost impossible to remove from red fender wells if you change your mind! With an engine rebuild, a manual valve body turbo 400 and a fair amount of suspension work we got the car to run a best of 12.6 at 112.
All great memories. Wish I had more pictures of some of the cool cars I've been lucky enough to have over the years.

Dean,
I think it was sapphire blue with a white vinyl top. I got it from my great aunt with 26,000 miles on it in 78. The plastic was still on the seats.
350 4bbl wasn't a good combination for an immature 16 year old kid. It was faster than just about all my friend's cars though. All but a 71 cougar and a 72 Cutlass Supreme.
