Master Cylinder for Christmas

A friend bought this for me. he said it was suppose to fit my 64 olds super 88 .It has the same bore size and same length .So my question will it fit .I thought it looked more like a Pontiac or Buick .Thanks Guy's .The first two photo's is the new. the next two is the old . last photo is of the power booster.

You have a Bendix booster so the car should have had a Bendix M/C instead of that Moraine in the pic. These cars could have come with either and there's enough differences that brake performance will suffer if they're mixed. Had you been having any brake issues?

The new one does look more like a Pontiac app as it's the same as on my buddy's 64 GP.

The car has never had brakes since I bought it. So I need to look for a bendix because I am getting ready to start a complete brake job new lines and everything .So I appreciate your help. Thank You!

You'll find the 1964 Bendix M/C is easier to find than the Moraine as it was shared with the Cutlass. You may have to tweak the brake line as most Bendix connect the brake line on the bottom where Moraines connect it at the end.

I don't think there was any rhyme or reason as to which car got what coming down the assembly line- I've seen both types on all the 1964 carlines. Moraine seem to be more common on Ninety Eights, and Bendix on Jetstar 88s.

Both of the M/C that I have has the brake line coming out of the bottom up towards the front. So the brake line is already bent that way. but I plan on replacing all lines. Thank You!

Vintage Chief & Eric: I have attached a new video where you can see the Flexplate somewhat running, the main purpose of the video was to confirm or rule out if the starter pinion is the culprit, which unfortunately doesn't look so. I do realize the housing of the starter seems too close to the flexplate, and I am not sure if this is correct, I cannot visualize if it is touching it lightly. I recall in the CSM, specifically page 12-10 figure 12-10, drawing of the electrical components of the engine, there is a spacer between the starter and the block, which I do not have, I do not remember it or losing it, does anyone recall if it is mandatory?. At the end of the video I tried to get a closer look at the flexplate but it was a little dangerous, please any comment or advice is highly welcome!. regards. Raul
