Vanity Mirror

A friend of mine just gave me this vanity mirror:

VanityMirror.jpg

Horrible picture, but my photographer is on vacation.

The Olds logo is on top, "De Luxe" is on the bottom in script, and the six white rectangles are labeled ✓ Battery, Change Oil, Lubrication, ✓ Spark Plugs, Tune Motor, and Mileage.

Anyone know anything about it? It's absolutely going into my 53, whenever the interior gets finished.

Perfect for your 53, it's ether an original or a reproduction of same. Olds changed styles sometime in the late fifties I believe that style dates from the forties. I have the same mirror on my 55 and I think its a cool addition to a period correct car.....Lost in the fifties ...Tedd

Good news to hear! I don't know if it's original, but it's old enough for the mirror to have lost some silvering around the edges, and pick up just a touch of rust on the back. The white rectangles are clearly meant to be written on, for dates or mileage. I wouldn't actually write on them, though, as I'd be afraid to ruin the coating.
