Smile 100 mile run

I just took my 455 442 out for a hundred mile run today. She loved it (the car!). Cruised on 80mph and blew out some cobwebs. Tacho is working for the first time, cable wasn't plugged in to distributor, and sat on 2500 rpm just humming. I am in love all over again. I love my Olds... Now how do I pay for the gas?

Nice car! You can always give rides, you know the old saying where the punch line is "No one rides for free"

80 mph @ 2500 rpm?... Really?....Really?

So you are running what trans, tire & gear ratio to achieve this?

I believe he was cruising at 80, but when he was talking about the RPMs he said the tach was stuck @ 2500 just humming before he plugged the wire into the distributor.

He'd have to have a rear taller than a 2.56 with a 1:1 top gear otherwise, so you're right. That's also the way I read it, mind you, so I'm not disagreeing.

80 is highway speed over here, and I love it. Just make sure your alignment is good, otherwise it's more of a boatride. D:

When I was doing 80 I wasn't looking at the tacho. 50-60 was about 2500 I think.

I run around 2800 give or take @ 60 with a t-400 and 28" tall tires. 3.42 rear. @ 80 she's well over 3 grand.
