muscle car used car lot

i had been driving by this place off and on for the last 8 years and finally stopped to look. its located about 10 miles south of springfield il on hwy 55. www.davescc.com is the website. a lot of the cars are basket cases but some could be really nice. the purple 1970 442 and a 1968 cutlass convertible were the only olds on the lot. the guy said the '70 had been sold multiple times but never paid off and removed. he wouldnt let me in the barn due to insurance reasons but i dont think i could have got in there too far anyway. it was supposedly a real 442 and originally a maroon color it had a 455 with c heads and an old offy intake. he said he sold it this time to a kid for around $10,000 and is waiting for him to complete making payments on it. i tried to resize all these pictures smaller but it didnt work

Wow it looks like the typical wrecking yard from the 70's. So do they part out cars or sell em by the pound.

Neat pictures - thanks for sharing.
Hopefully they will all be put back on the road or help others back on the road.
Some of those old cars are just so cool...

I could spend all day at a place like that. I dig that Skylark sun coupe - the last pic. A 1972 only model I believe. That would be the car I'd leave with.

I think that's the place I've seen driving down to St Louis a few times right off I-55 right ???
Pretty cool.....I'm sure he's probably clinching those for top dollar.

I'd love to get my hands on the Charger.....and do a Pro-Touring new Hemi & 8 speed build out of it.

Great pics and website that shows all the cars, prices, and if they are sold. I was wondering if you had cash if he would come down on his prices - but looking at the website - why would he ? - the guy is a genius - Sell the car to someone who can not afford it - $500 a month payments - hold the car - until the person backs out - then resell to the next guy. Some of these auction house may want to check with him on how much he has collected on that 442 over the years before they advertise they have sold a certain 442 for a new world record amount.

he didnt know jack about oldsmobiles in general. the kid that bought it this go round is trying to tell him it has a 350 in it. i showed him what to look for and where to find the vin on the block. he said if the kid defaults this time and its numbers matching, hes going to keep it. he said he forgot how many times its been sold.

yes it is right off 55 just south of hwy 72. there is another place farther down just past litchfield called Country Classic Cars. they have a lot nicer stuff.

These kind of places always seemed sketchy to me. The kind of place where the cars look great from the outside but once you start digging into the areas you can't normally see you start finding some sketchy stuff. That and whenever a car dealership gets its hands on a nice old domestic they always seem to think its worth 3 times what it is. Especially up here in Canada where they tend to bring a lot more money than the same car in the states. No your 1970 4 door Chevelle in pieces on your front lawn is not worth 5 grand.

Speaking of dealerships wanting too much money for old domestics....

These are some great pics. I started a thread to collect pics of junkyard cars called Junk yard Dogs. Would like to see these reposted over there so we can get a running thread of these some of these cars.......

If you look at that website he shows that 442 and it looks real nice. But then your picture shows it in a garage uncovered full of dust with engines and crap stacked all around it. Not very proffesional. If I was the guy who bought it and saw that pick I would be pretty ticked off.

the guy was crawling around on the rad support trying to see the letters on the heads and kicked the grills twice! both times breaking off decent size pieces. i think my heart stopped both times! he kept leaning on the head knocker too bending it.
