uploading pic question

I am having trouble uploading pics taken from my phone. Pic says it is a Jpg and is 2.2 MB. According to the attachment key the max size is 9.54 MB..
I do not have any problems uploading pics taken from my camera. They vary but are all under 2 MB. whats up with this?

jpg and jpeg are the same thing (as is jpe, I believe). Just different extensions for the same file type.

The limit is 100 kb for a photo. The "attachment key" on this site showing htat 9.54 MB is ok for jpg is certainly in error. No way a photo file that large can be uploaded. At nearly 10 MB, his photos are 100 times too large.

yah, please DO NOT post 10M pix.

right click
open with...
MS Pain[t]
SAVE AS with new name to not destroy the hi res one
Ctrl-W to resize it
enter reasonable % of the old size, like 20-30%
You can shrink it again as need be

Pictures need to be under 1.5MB in order for the site to downsize it to under 100k.
The microsoft powertoys image resizer is handy for reducing sizes.

The powertoys are only designed for Windows XP. Anyone running Windows Vista, 7, or 8 needs something else. I recommend this. I use it all the time. The function is identical to the resizer powertoy.
