Possible junkyard run

I just called up a local junkyard and asked for a list of cars that they have on the lot older than 1985
They're supposedly going to call me back with a parts/price list.

If this pans out for us, does anybody need something for their restoration?

UPDATE:
Good news.
Just got a call back from a lady that operates the yard. She was very sweet on the phone, and we had a brief conversation about m cars and about her 64' Falcon that she takes to auto shows and cruise nights. I told her that I help with organizing this website, and hopefully we can strike some deals to make everyone happy.

So, ball is in your court, CO. Let's see if we can make this worth a trip out there.

I'm glad you see it that way.
My old lady would compare it to a horrible heroin addiction long before she would call it "nice" or "cool"

Hey now you're doing everyone on here a solid even if you're not getting anything for them. Just the offer is a big deal, especially for people who need parts. So i say to your old lady if you're an addict of helping people i hope you never get clean!! HA

Where is the yard at if you don't mind me asking? I'm up in the McHenry area. I'm not looking for anything specific but I'd like to scrounge through the 74 and 75 Cutlasses.

x2 on the location...I could maybe do some picking on the '72 and '73 98.

Though I'd hate to be called an enabler.

Any cruise control parts or lower lock/window switches on the 70's GM models?

Hey this is great! Is this nearby for you? Would you be able to post pics and go back for parts that some of us may need? I'm curious to see what the 72/3 98's and 75 88 have to offer.

I stopped out there today for a short while. The 75 cutlass was crushed, and the 74 was pretty rotten. The bumpers are solid and not banged up though if someone is looking for good cores. Mustard gold, landau top, 14" rallyes, non posi rear. LH grille is broken but RH is ok. White bench interior that looks gray now from all the weather damage. Trim is all pitted, but the tail lights are not broken. 350 car, 8 heads

The Chevy truck was a 65 or 66 if I had to guess. Big rectangle badge on it that just said "10"

The 71-73 98's are 95% complete. 2 big block cars. 1 had black interior in decent shape save for a couple 4" splits in the driver's backrest. No power trunk solenoids or latches though. Cruise control bellows were missing, I would have to check on the rest of the setup.

The 76 is a pastel purple color and had 22's on it. Vinyl top 350 car. Good tail lights. Missing a headlight bezel.

79 Delta was a 4 door with firethorn power bench interior in decent shape. Rear bumper was rotten. 15X7 Rallye wheels, but missing the center caps

There was also a 61 olds 98 4 door. Has motor and transmission, but missing a valve cover and probably a few other small things. Red with a faux white convertible top. Good side chrome except for the rear doors. Someone ruined those. Tail lights were broken.

The 85 riviera is white with maroon interior, but the roof has been sawzalled off of it, and it is a bathtub full of ice right now.

I asked what they wanted for their engines, and she told me $350 and up
Rear ends $200

I didn't ask about transmissions or bumpers yet. Figured if we could get some confirmed buyers on board, they might start giving us a break on prices.

Hey, of the black interior 98...was it tilt or tilt/telescope steering? Also, what was the condition of the wheel itself? I'm looking for a really nice black tilt only wheel for a long time so please let me know. Thanks!

Also, what is the '76 you mentioned? I'm guessing it's an 88 if it has a 350 but that could have my wheel in it too and/or other parts.

Pictures would be greatly helpful. Thanks!!

ALSO.... I'm not interested in pulling parts that people don't really NEED. If you need a backup set or item, I completely understand, but Also keep in mind that I manage the for sale section on this website.

I'm trying to help people complete their cars, not score them dirt cheap doodads for resale. I could do that just fine by myself.
This yard is a 50 mile trip for me, and my time is only free if you have a legitimate claim.

I will check it out next time I go there. I found an 8.5 rear end for my electra there that I'm going to pick up some time this week. I remember the wheel not being perfect, the plastic had some separation. I believe it was black, but had brown leather cover wrapped around it. I'll have to find a way to get the doors open. We've had an ice storm here the last 2 days and everything is coated in 1/8-1/4" of ice.
I wasn't paying attention if it was a tilt/telescope optioned car, but it very well could be since it's a 72 98

OK thanks. I'm really looking for a tilt only wheel but wouldn't object to a really nice telescope one either. It's all dependant on the condition (and it being black. Since it was a '72, do you happen to recall if it was a Regency or not?

I did notice that the seat backs and bottoms did not have the "Buttons" They were flat with horizontal lined stitching, and engrained emblems.

I'm not sure of all differences between regular and regency, but I think the difference in seats is one of them. Regency has the button interior, do they not?

Correct..the Regency interior is the biggest difference...it being the one with the "pillow-style" seats. Either way the wheel would be the same although a 72 is slightly different than 76 but I believe still useable.

The 71 and 72 98s do not have the tilt columns.

The 75 delta 88 does, however. Go figure.

Column and wheel are a shade between tan and brown, and the previous owner had the wheel covered in ostrich skin or something when he donked it out.

Another fun thing about the donk......I think he had the center separations in the header panel cut out so it could accept some kind of 80's grilles.

I took another look at the truck for you.
But
The GMC trucks all look the same to me...... I cant tell a 61 from a 66. The Chevys, I can tell by the grilles.

This one has a GMC grille, and chevy badges. Damned if I know what it is or was.

The driver door is totally rotten junk, and the passenger door has a rust hole in the bottom front corner.

Does the 79 Royale have the lower chrome pieces of the rocker pannel on both sides? I really need both side for my 78 Delta Royale. How much are they asking? If picture doesn't work please try link.

I do remember it having the snakeblinder trim, but don't remember the condition. I can't imagine they would want much money for it.....doesn't weigh anything.
I'd guess 10-20 bucks per side.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say these steering wheels probably are not any nicer than what you already have..... Unless your wood grain is totally trashed and your plastic is sticky.

There is 1 black wheel as I mentioned. Non tilt column. I would have to cut the brown leather wrap off of it to let you know the condition.

I could really use the wiper switch form the 75 delta 88. The one from the dash on the left side of the wheel.

Thanks

If you don't mind and possible I would like both sides please and not worried of how the chrome looks because I plan on having everything rechromed anaway

Hi, it's possible that there's a gem under that wrap. I had a parts car years ago with a wrapped wheel...underneath was a flawless wheel, but in blue. This worked out great for my friend but still leaves me searching. Mine are nice but still looking for that near new black one.

Btw. Tilt and non tilt would be the same wheel. It's just the telescopic wheel that's different..sorry if I didn't mention that.

Very curious to know the condition of that black wheel.

I got into the car and pulled up some of the wrap yesterday. The center binding started coming off with it, and the pad has a really dried out spot where the black has turned into a brownish color. Sorry I couldn't do better for you buddy!
