Not exactly. More accurately, Olds did have and keep records for a number of years. And like most companies, the eventually disposed of them. The production numbers that Ed cites (specifically the 442 production broken down by year, model, and transmission, were culled from the records by Helen Early, presumably at the request of enthusiasts, when the records were still available. These particular figures were kept, even though the raw data they came from is now gone.
I also have obtained some production reports for a few years that are breakdowns of options by *series* (not individual models) by month. As valuable as this is, it still does not yield production for *combinations* of options. One of the years of these reports is 1967, and since the 442 and transmissions are both options, you can't get the info you requested from this report.

It was my understanding that most of the Olds records of the detailed history of individual cars as well as other Olds historical data, were destroyed in a fire.
I got the numbers I posted from a fact book I bought several years ago called "Oldsmobile 4-4-2 & W-Machines Restoration Guide".
It's far from a "restoration guide", but, the numbers seem to go along with other fact sources I've compared it to.

The "fire" is a rumor that just won't go away. Those records were simply not kept as was the case with every GM division except Pontiac which for not the efforts of a few individuals at the time would have been in the same boat. The Pontiac records were not saved by GM or Pontiac as such.
The figures in that restoration guide are correct with some minor exception. That book is a good effort, but has quite a few errors, so caution is advised using it.

Can you tell me how many cars had the Rally Gauge package as an option in 1967?

Sure. These figures are thru June, thus missing July. An educated guess is to generally add about 8% to get close to the total.

49 3400 series
187 3600 series
6434 3800 series, this includes 442s.

So about 3.9% of the models that had this as an option got it.
