I'm not sure how accurate their figures are, but the official production figures of *all* Oldsmobile models for every year are at Wild About Cars.
http://wildaboutcarsonline.com/cgi-b...aldisplayed=50

Wild About Cars. http://wildaboutcars.com. An information supersource, especially Oldsmobile. More Olds content than anywhere else on the internet and continuing to grow.
You'll find Chassis Service Manuals, Product Information Manuals (AKA Assembly Manuals), Inspector's Manuals, and other documents that will contain this and much much more.
Dealer Brochures, magazine ads and articles, and a home page for you online with your own garage where you can show off what you have.

That site is interesting as they have a far more detailed breakdown of Cutlass/442 production by engine type, 442 package, H/O, etc. I wonder where they get their figures as the Olds History Center always maintained that such records weren't kept for Oldsmobiles built before 1977.

Setting the Pace, which wmachine refers to, doesn't have this level of detail in its production figures. Just by body style for each model and 442 production for the years when the 442 was its own line ('68 through '71), but nothing about how many had any particular engine, how many H/O, etc.

That link has the "commonly known" production figures for the 442, W-cars, and H/Os, and is just the '64-'72 window. A further breakdown by transmission is known for these cars too. The info was taken from production data by Helen Early many years ago when it was still available. I have all of this and will be posting it on Wild About Cars in the near future.
Pretty accurate info, but for example, there were 504 1967 W30s, not 502.

Exclamation Have a stat ?

Back in 1977 I was living in Daytona Beach at the time and I bought a 1965 f-85 442, my question is do you know how many came with 425 cid v-8's . The first time I went to tune it up I got all the parts for a 400ci and nothing fit, so I went down to the local olds dealer and talked to and old mecanic there and he walked me out to my car opened the hood and the first thing he said was that's not a 400. he went to the drivers door and opened it and to my suprise there was a plate from the factory or added after it was built with a NASCAR stamp on it. It's then he told me it was a 425. I have been looking for years for any info on it with no luck. Sadly the car is long gone I wish I still had it along with about 10 other cars I had in my younger years.

Well that is odd since all of the tune-up parts are identical for those engines.

I suspect the original 400 was blown up (removed for some reason), warranty replacement or whatever. Since all the 400 cid engines were earmarked for production, I'm guessing a 425 short-block was installed since it was most likely the best alternative with no 400's available?

It's simpler than that. In the 1965 model year, Olds built 25,003 442s with the 400 motor (plus a handful of police package F-85s of unknown quantity). In the same timeframe, Olds built 324,497 full size cars with 425s. If you blew up the 400 and went to the wrecking yard for a replacement big block Olds, which one were you more likely to find?

A better engine than what was installed by the factory in any 1965 4-4-2.

All good answers

All I know the points didn't fit at all. what I do remember is it went like a bat out-o-hell. Oh and it was 1 of the 109 3-speeds made. Great for light to light drags

Pretty much every Delco V8 distributor made by GM from 1958 to 1974 uses the same points. Delco 106P or equivalent.
