I found my dream 59

Been looking 5 years for a 59 convertible. Found a 98 in Missouri, the owner was a pure sweetheart. Talked to her repeatedly, then flew out, and the car was just what I was looking for. I know my limitations. A good #2 car, not a concours car, but a great driver. Solid, great shape inside and out. I AM STOKED!
Thanks folks for all the support through my hunt!
Jim

that is one sweet looking ride. there is no way to not look good in something like that. '59 was the pinacle of chrome, fins and cool. not like the cucumbers on wheels we have today.
have fun cruising.

I had a '68 cutlass as a kid and just found a '68 cutlass convertible this summer so of course I joined this forum. I am astounded by the sweet works of art that Oldsmobile had built in the day such as this dream boat. Nice ride!!

Beautiful work of art! I bet it drives like a dream. Please post a couple top-down shots. That steering post looks like it could be a problem in an accident. Did they have airbags that year?

in those days the airbag sat in the passenger seat!

Thumbs up My dream 59

Thanks for the nice comments, folks. I took it out yesterday for a 20 mile loop, and it steers and handles great. Given the weather today, I'll be a while posting pics with the top down!
Now comes the fun stuff - poking around to see what bits it still needs, hunting down those pieces, etc. Thankfully, it doesn't need much. Oh, yeah. AND CRUISING!
I really wasn't that good this year. My wife is a saint.
