I've talked to Joe several times in person and on the phone and he was a true gentleman. I missed him at Sturbridge this year and was shocked to hear he had passed. I'll miss him, his knowledge and what he did for Oldsmobile.

I got the news from Joe Spagnoli, he called me tell me the news Weds around 9am . I am very happy that I got to see him one last time at the Corvette and Muscle Car Nationals for the Cars of Hurst Display. The one thing that I am glad I was able to do for him was add his decal to the Harry Hurst Olds and put them on the front fenders, in that he had donated parts for the cars restoration and they never applied them, he was extremely excited and happy that they finally got on the car after all these years. He also gave me all his Hairy Hurst Olds prints that he was given for his work on the car as a thank you ,and he signed all of them. I have been and will be selling these and all monies raised will go to the Hairy Hurst Olds fund., which will help cover insurance, traveling expenses to shows , etc.
Those of you who have had the privilege to have ever met Joe know not only was he a great car guy but a HUGE wine lover and had his own line of wines, at the show I gave him a very nice bottle of Barolo as a thank you for all he has done for me and his friendship.
He will be missed and I personally feel blessed to have know him and called him my friend.
My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family,
Joe was a great Oldsmobile enthusiast , but more importantly a GREAT man and friend..God Bless.

Yep, they posted his Bio and such on his web site. What a sad day, I have not been lucky enough to meet him.

Regretfully, Joe has - in fact passed. It happened early Wednesday morning due to complications following gastro-intestinal surgery. He was 75.
I first met Joe drag racing in the early 1960's. We had been friends for the last 50 years.
DAMN!

hey i know this post is really old but and i mean but, I have a mondello shortblock and his heads from 2009 about 5300 total and they are doing the job just fine by the way this year faster then 12,s and closed exhaust. My potential is my business.
I have a Mondello long block and just love it. It came from them 5 years ago. Mine was over $8500 but oh so sweet. Joe did so much for our choice of cars. He was a great machinist. Thank you Joe for all you did.
