Odd brake master cylinder
Odd brake master cylinder
I noted the brake master cylinder in a '67 Toro currently offered on EBay has an odd master cylinder with a "bolt-on" cap:

I have seen similar jobs offered for sale, for example, this one:

As far as I can deternmine from other examples I've seen in person, there is no provision for a bail for the typical cap you see on these era cars. Seems to me that a bolt-on cap would discourage regular check of the fluid level.
Anyway, does anyone know if these were some kind of aftermarket parts? offered "back in the day"?

Well, The Prettiest One has one of those bolt on type caps also!! I don't know why. Don't know if you can see real well in this pic....

It is as I suspected then...thanks for the confirmation.
The radiator in my car is also an incorrect replacement part. Of course, I told my wife when I bought THIS car that I would not worry about such underhood details, i.e. when it comes to those "wear items".
On the topic of underhood details, I figure now is as good a time as any to mention a possible interchange when it comes to the air cleaner on a 4 speed '66-'67 442...seems a similar era Chevy unit is VERY close, with the exception of an air tube on the bottom that can be easily removed (and the hole plugged).

Or maybe this is old news...
