Hello everyone, I’m on a mission to track down my father’s original 1970 Oldsmobile 442 Holiday Coupe. I have the exact serial number and a great local history trail, so I'm hoping someone in the Olds community recognizes the car or has it sitting in a registry! Here is the breakdown of the car:
VIN: 344870G129776 (Authentic 442 Holiday Coupe, built right here in Massachusetts at the Framingham plant).Color: Galleon Gold (Paint Code 55) with standard Super Stock II wheels.Original MA Plate: P51-952
The History: My dad bought this car new in Massachusetts and traded it in back in 1973 to Worcester Dodge, Inc. I’ve attached a photo from when my dad owned it. If you are a New England muscle car guy who remembers a gold '70 442 coming off the Park Ave Dodge lot in the mid-70s, or if you currently own a gold 1970 hardtop and recognize this sequential production number (129776), please reply to this thread or send me a PM. I would love to know if his car survived! Thanks for looking
I just did a national title search using that VIN, and there is no record of a title for a car with that VIN anywhere in the country. Given the huge amount of time that has passed since you last knew of the car's whereabouts and today, the most likely thing is that the car has been junked or scrapped by now.
If the search did turn up a hit, it would cost $5 to get the report, which would just tell you in what state the car is titled and when the most recent title was issued. It would also indicate things like salvaged or flood damaged and things like that.
