Shop work light for under your lift

If you have a 2 or 4 post lift and spend any time under it working on your cars you might find this to be very helpful. I bought one of these when they first introduced them and it was around $650.00 it works great and almost indestructible. Amazon has them for $47.00 right now shipped if you have amazon prime so I bought 2 more at that price they arrived yesterday and they are identical with one additional feature the are dimmable. I don't know why the price is what it is or how long before they figure out something is wrong. The manufacturer has them for $1599.00.

I know if it sounds to good to be true it probably is but in this case I waited to find out before posting here. It is less than $50 bucks it is a no brainer

The original link I posted has sold out of them here are a few more links that may still have some.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/256006139895

Each are more than the original post but still a smoking deal

Thank you 442Fred for the heads-up.
What a fantastic light - it arrived yesterday. It's a big improvement over the old way of doing things. I can see now!

I too saw the light. Walked all over it, no issues, worked well. Am going to get a cord protector.

I also ordered one when Fred first posted about it. It's a nice light but...
Quick question to those who just received theirs, how was it packed? Mine came in a giant box, but inside the light itself was just in a plastic bag. It banged around the box and has a crack along the left side of the frame, and has a chunk about the size of a quarter missing out of it. It works just fine, but the packing was terrible. I ordered it from Amazon.

I bought mine on eBay, from Monster Fastener in Portage MI. Was also in plastic in an oversized box, but with plenty of cardboard packed around it.

The two I ordered came packed the same way the power supply was in a factory box but the light was in plastic with cardboard top and bottom. No damage on mine but packaging left a lot to be desired. I have since bought six more for friends of mine hopefully they arrive in good shape.

Yeah, the PS was in the factory box but there was no extra cardboard around the light, it was able to just slide around. At least it works fine, and I am impressed so I did order another and am contemplating sending the other one back. I went through a similar fiasco earlier this year with Amazon with a radiator for my Buick wagon, it took three (or four) times before I received one that wasn't damaged.
Also, THANK YOU Fred for the link.

I would send it back ASAP if you are thinking about it since I am not sure how many of these are available, this is a discontinued item. They work great and my original light is identical with the only issue a few years ago the power supply failed and the part was easily found on a google search. Easy fix

Fred, was that a part inside the power supply box, or the whole box? Somewhere it says "No serviceable parts inside.", which of course throws down the gauntlet.

I tried to contact the company who made the lights but no response so I opened the power supply box and just a few parts inside which made it easy to trouble shoot found the problem searched the part number on the component and google found what I needed . Very easy fix. Parts will fail but the box is pretty simple to fix.

Are they rechargeable or does it have to have the cord plugged in while in use?

Thanks!

Being that it's discontinued and it still works, I'm going to keep the damaged one as it wasn't terribly expensive. The new one should be here by Wed, hopefully in better condition.

They are 110V corded, no battery.

Same for me. A quarter-sized chunk broken off the corner. I haven't had a chance to test it yet, but if it works I haven't decided whether I'm going to complain or not.

One of mine has an intermittent switch issue, so I filed a replacement on Amazon, and they sent one today... we'll see what I get. Aligning with your experiences, the packaging was pretty subpar.

Did anybody get a dimming one other than Fred? Mine (and friends) have all been from Lot 2019-0001 and are non dimmable. Curious if that's a control box thing or a panel difference... it's friggin bright!

Received mine, packaging was not the best, but arrived undamaged. My light is not dimmable. The touch switch is strange, it has no feel if you did something, you have to look a the light to see if it turned on or off. Not dimmable, just on nice and bright or off.

The dimming feature functions kind of strange hold your finger on the flat plate switch and it will cycle through dimming when it is on or a quick momentary tough turns it on full bright. Mine was from the same lot, I haven't opened the other light it is a gift but pretty sure that is dimmable also

Touch and hold the silver pad to dim and un-dim the light. For some odd reason the instructions don't mention the dimming function.

I had the same question about the dimmer. I'll have to hold the touch pad and try it out. One came without packaging and the other is in the OEM packaging. The one I pulled out to test works fine and is pretty bright.

Two fingers and tap the touch pad.

Mine dim's also, don't care for on/off switch, like something more positive.

Second one arrived last week, was able to test it yesterday and all is well. This one was packed a little better. There was a piece of cardboard on the back side, and the light and PS were both wrapped in a plastic bag. It was still allowed to slide around in the box, but no damage this time. I wonder if they were part of some sort of bulk packaging, I can't imagine these were stacked on a shelf this way?

Fred, I think all of this just means you’re now a “social media influencer.”

I figure I’ll throw my two cents worth of review of this light.

Mine came packaged like others, loose in a large box. I tried it out and it worked fine

I brought it out to my shop and set it under the lift. No sooner had I set it up and was looking for a place to mount the controller when I tripped on the loose controller wire that feeds the light and I tore the wire out of the controller. The wire that supplies the light is thin and the connectors on each end are better suited for the back of a stereo system than a shop…

I managed to cobble it back together so it works but….

one positive that I’ll mention is the controller has magnetic feet on it that mount pretty well to the side of my tool box. The touch controller works best if you lick your fingers first. Dry fingers are pretty much useless at getting it to turn on, off or dim….

I have "Cable Ramps" over all the cords and cables running across my shop (oops... the photo turned out a bit big). They can be driven over, and they are available on Amazon and elsewhere for as little as $40 for a set of four:

The FRED LIGHT works good.. I hot rodded 2 of them with shielding wire loom from box 2 lamp. Stand them side ways most of the time. Park them on pallet racking a few feet off the ground .. end to end PANORAMA

Doing mine I ended up with 250 FEET of EXTRA Wire Loom that I should sell.... another ROUND 2 IT

Needed some better lighting for the garage for an upcoming project so I ordered two of these last night. The op's link still works. Apparently, I'll have them Friday so I will post back then regarding how they were packaged. Fingers are crossed!

I got my light and I am impressed- it's very bright! I don't have a lift but I sat it on floor in front of where I was working and it radiated out far enough that it didn't interfere w my creeper. I was sure that mine doesn't dim but after reading this thread again I will try holding finger on the touch pad. Well worth 53 bucks- $1599.- no.
