Calling all concours guys 69 442

I got some new raditor top side flaps [Sorry I don't know the correct name] and I need a pic of the passanger side of the top of the radiator on an A/C car. I think they're just twisted around the lines but wanted to be sure.

Is that next to the car thingy or the what you call it

 

It's the rectangular sorta ruberized cardboard flaps that hand down the top corners of the radiator. Well they don't exactly hand down. They're held in place by push clips.

 

Radiator seal. It goes from the radiator top support down the sides. For you trivia buffs the repos come with a round plastic push clip, while the origional clips are metal and have a rectangular [almost square] head.

All of my referances don't show the passanger side with A/C or at least I can't find it.

 

I can't help on the radiator seals as my car is non-ac. Correct on the push in clips metal square head and the color is green.

The resto places have the correct clips.

 

I would have thought this would be easy????

Next I'm gonna ax, how do you get those rubber sleaves on the jacks????

 

Jamesbo, where do you get those thingies, the shop lost one of mine (radiator-thing-a-ma-bobs)

 

I've been going through my pictures and the closest I can find is this one on a 1971 Delta 88. For what it's worth, this one has a notch in the flap to go around the AC condensor lines. John

Hummmmmmmmmmmm

I've got what's left of an origional on my drop top. From what's left of it, I thought it was twisted insted of notched. First light I'll check it out.

Where are all the multitudes of '69 guys when you need'em?
I think the one in John's pic is supposed to be fastened in the holes more inboard where the one old pin is?

For my '71 the radiator and grille section in the chassis service manual shows the seals.
The assembly manual also shows them in the section with the radiator support and radiator.

If they are anything like the '71 they go to the first raised rib on the radiator top plate, the 88-98 is pictured like that in the CSM and the reason I said John's may be positioned wrong.
That is the larger type with 4 pins to hold it and in the book it's rectangular with a split down the middle to the bottom to go around the A/C lines. The radius on the top corner goes to the rear like John's pic.

I think the manuals also show the jack sleeve.
On a poncho site a few guys were looking for the correct spare stowage and jack stuff and couldn't figure it out for nothing until I told them to look at the stickers under their trunk lids.
I took a pic of my spare and jack to show them the colors and it's all over the internet, all these guys post it and say it's their spare and jack now.

Yes, I think John's is the bigger seal.

I can't find it in my manuals But I'm ole and blind.

So we now have one large seal notched and one small seal cut at a 45 degree angle.

Did you use alcohol [rubbing not Vodka] to get the jack sleave on or something else? [I know I'm going to regret asking this question.]

 

You wanted to do both sides?

The book only shows the right 88-98 seal clearly. The left one looks straight on the engine side and the top is square.
If I had to assume I would say the 45 goes down and to the front, but you know what assuming makes out of you and me.

I got my rubber maid to do the jack sleeve since that's right up her alley.

With my self destructive behavior I really prefer to use vodka to mix up a pitcher of Kamikazes to loosen me up.

The drivers side isn't the problem, it's the passanger side that I'm try'in to do correctly.

Where are all my 69 Buddies?

 

May be they replaced the 69's for 68's. Not to worry the seals will be the same, so hopefully someone has a good picture.

 

My 70 Cutlass with A/C has the passenger side radiator flap wrapping around the tubes. The flap appears to be original, but I don't know that definitively.

Oh, and please ignore the ugly paint on the tubes and radiator - those are my on my project list.

Now this is beginning to make some sense.It looks like it's cut and slightly twisted.

 

mine are not yet back on my car but they were attached as in the photo above

'68 seals are different than '69 seals

 

According to the resto places (Fusicks) 68-72 all the same and I agree with them.
