Convertible Top

So the other day I replaced the electric motor on my convertible (75 Delta 88). When I hit the switch the top only goes up about less than halfway. Am I missing something ?? Any input will be very helpful. Thanks

Could be several things. Most likely is that you failed to bleed the system properly and have air in the hydraulic lines. There is an excellent recommended bleeding procedure in the Fisher body manual.

When bleeding, it’s perfectly safe to put it up & down a few times per procedure.

If you go much more than 6 or 8 cycles put your hand on the motor to see if it’s getting hot. If so, take a break to let it cool down. Then finish bleeding later

The '75 Delta 88 didn't have a pump. It used an electric motor w/ the scissors top I believe. A reason I never bought one. Are both of the cables OK? ClassicOldsmobile.com - Search Results

Here is an excellent read on an ELECTRIC convertible top. I suggest you read it from beginning to end. Suspect one of the relays is bad.

One more for you w/ excellent images of the relay, etc. Good thread - I'd suggest it's worth the time...

Just topped off my pump and bled the system, unaware that it didn’t apply to you and your Delta, but now, thanks to CO - enlightenment!
